We Make Collective

Kerry Leslie

A couple of months ago Fran from Fall for DIY approached us to ask if we'd collaborate with her on a part of her new venture; We Make Collective. She's recently had a hugely successful Kickstarter for this, with 112 backers pledging £3608 to support We Make Collective craft subscriptions!

As part of this campaign, backers pledge to receive an on-trend monthly materials box, celebrating individual and unique ideas and imagination.

How we're involved: the first box in the subscription contains a lasercut wooden loom, crafted by Fran and I! We can't wait to see what the subscribers make with their looms!

Introducing our new Hawaiian range

Kerry Leslie

This tropical themed jewellery range is bound to banish the last of those winter blues as we head into Spring and prepare for Summer!

This is our second collaboration with Birmingham-based illustrator Kerry Leslie, who drew this range especially for us for a hawaiian hen party workshop we held a couple of weeks ago (pictures here)

Each necklace has been lasercut and etched, and as you can see in the photo - the first six designs have been hand painted, and the turtle and hibiscus flowers have been finished with a subtle glittery varnish. All necklaces come on a gold-plated, silver-plated or antique chain, and the necklaces are available to purchase on etsy.

Working Clasp at Staiths Café

Kerry Leslie

We're really happy to have select pieces from our range on sale at the wonderful Staiths Café in Gateshead!

The Staiths Cafe is located on the South bank of the River Tyne and set against the stunning backdrop of the historic Dunston Staiths structure, a scheduled monument and Grade II listed timber structure. Situated in the heart of an award winning development designed by Wayne Hemingway, the cafe faces onto the riverside and protected mud flats and bird habitat. Located on the Keelman’s Way and part of the Coast 2 Coast, the cafe provides a unique stopping point for the many cyclists, walkers, tourists, neighbours and commuters that pass its doors.

The café is a great multi-functional space hosting exhibitions, film-screenings, pop-up food nights and all kinds of parties. We're thrilled to have our work here, alongside many talented artists and designers including Surf'n'Silver, Laura Crow and Mark Gibson.

Working Clasp at the RBSA Gallery in Birmingham

Kerry Leslie

We're over the moon to be part of the RBSA Gallery's latest show: Hidden Treasures Craft Exhibition.

"With a particular focus on geometric designs, this exhibition features new techniques, such as 3D-printing, to examine current trends in ceramics and jewellery. This display also aims to shed light on the many ‘hidden gems’ of talent in the contemporary designer-maker industry by including a number of emerging makers at the start of their careers."

As part of the exhibition you'll find a wide selection of my best works, including several of my bridal headpieces, and some of my most recent designs including this Oxytocin necklace.

The exhibition is on till the 9th May, so do pop down and check it out. More information on the RBSA Gallery's website here

SWEETS for my SWEET - a new collection by Working Clasp + Kerry Leslie

Kerry Leslie

Introducing a new collection by Working Clasp, in collaboration with illustrator and graphic designer Kerry Leslie.

This range has been designed, printed and lasercut in Birmingham us both, we share a studio at the Custard Factory in Digbeth.

Kerry illustrated various penny sweets, and Rebecca etched, engraved and lasercut the drawings out of perspex, creating charm bracelets, necklaces, stud/clip-on/dangly earrings and pin badges, which you can pick and mix from.

The drawings have also been used to create patterns for greetings cards – which have been lasercut with a message reading ‘Sweets for my sweet’, perfect for valentines day.

This is the first collaboration of many!

These are available to buy over on our etsy shop.
